Crime Scene Unit
The Crime Scene Unit is composed of civilian employees which include a Certified Latent Examiner. The unit is responsible for documenting and investigating various type crime scenes by locating, identifying, photographing, processing, preserving and preparing collected evidence for laboratory analysis or court proceedings. Technicians are also responsible for processing evidence submitted by Deputies and Investigators.
The Crime Scene Unit utilizes sophisticated, state-of-the-art equipment to assist in the detection and preservation of various forms of evidence. Examples include fingerprints, blood, DNA, hairs and fibers, and trajectory reconstruction. The Crime Scene Unit is also available to be utilized to assist other agencies upon request.
