Santa Rosa County has over 180 miles of coastline and waterways. For the amount of population, this is a relatively large amount of coastline. The Sheriff’s Office utilizes a highly trained and dedicated volunteer group of Deputies who are Boat Operators to man the vessels assigned to the unit. Our Marine Unit patrols the coastline to assist with vessels in distress, search, rescue and recovery, missing persons, Homeland Security functions and major events such as the Blue Angels Airshow, Speedboat Poker Run and the Billy Bowlegs Festival.
Our vessels are equipped with side scan sonars and radar for night time operations. The unit is under the direction of OIC Lt. Killingsworth.
